Natural And Safe Remedies For Constipation

There may be a number of different reasons why somebody would be suffering from constipation.  At times, it can be caused by an illness, perhaps a bacterial or viral infection.  At other times it may be something that is going wrong within the body, such as colitis or other intestinal problem.  There may also be times when ever constipation is caused by improper eating habits.  Understanding what is causing the constipation is going to be your best defense because you will be able to correct it from the root.

One of the best remedies for constipation is to get additional fiber in your diet.  Most people tend to do this by buying a fiber product at the store but it is usually better if you get the fiber naturally.  Do you enjoy drinking smoothies?  If you do, you can easily add some greens into this kind of a drink on a daily basis and get your fiber in that way.  It also would help if you ate some ground flax seed on a daily basis as this can help to get things moving considerably.

Something else that you may want to do in order to combat constipation is to drink plenty of water.  Most people don't realize that dehydration is one of the leading causes of constipation so they rarely ever correct it in this matter.  If you drink half of your body weight every day in ounces of water and take a little bit of sea salt each time you are drinking water, your body will become fully hydrated as a result.  After a week or two of doing this, you will rarely ever have to deal with constipation again.

If you have this ailment as a result of an illness that you're dealing with and you are looking for remedies for constipation, there may be very little that you can do except to allow it to run its course.  Although it certainly couldn't hurt for you to eat properly and get plenty of water during this time.  If you eat something on a regular basis that causes constapation, take note of what that is and then avoid eating it in the future.  Although it sounds simplistic, it's one of the best ways for you to handle the particular situation.
